In A Nutshell: Under the direction of the Supervisor, Facilities Operations, with assistance from the Maintenance Lead Hand, the successful incumbent for the Maintenance 2 position will perform the day-to-day activities of facilities operations of all County of Essex facilities.Day in The Life: Inspect and perform minor building repairs, including but not limited to electrical (including lighting ballasts, tubes & fixtures), mechanical, plumbing, painting, carpentry and landscaping Maintain proper water and chemical levels for boilers and chiller systems Check and maintain operations of the heating and cooling plant (computer systems and physical equipment), including boilers, chiller, ancillary air conditioning units and air handlers Maintain motors, compressors, pumps, and valves in proper operating condition. Replace worn belts, mechanical seals on pumps and air filters on air intake units Receive, ship, stock and distribute incoming/outgoing supplies and materials, which may include lift truck use Inspection of lift truck and refuel, as necessary Perform procedures/repairs as directed by the preventative maintenance schedule established for the building Monthly Inspections on Fire & Emergency systems: fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, exit lighting, AED units, fire bells and backup generators for proper pressure and notify the Supervisor of those that are deficient Maintain the outside area free of debris and straighten parking bumper blocks, clear walkways and entrances in the winter Ensure perimeter-accessible doors are unlocked in the mornings and locked at the end of the shift. Ensure the security system is in the locked position and all perimeter doors are closed at the end of the shift Record requests for meeting room bookings and direct the Public to the correct meeting rooms Perform regular inspections and complete all required repairs in a timely and effective manner Perform other related duties as may be necessary and assigned from time to time, by the Supervisor or Manager What We Are Looking For: Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent Certificate of Qualification in either Millwright, Facility Mechanic, Plumbing, or Electrical is required. Preference for this particular job posting will be Millwright, Facility Mechanic or Plumbing. Please note: Certification as a Building Environmental Systems Operator will also be considered 2-3 years of experience in building and facility operations and maintenance (i.e. Building Automation Systems, HVAC, water treatment systems and boilers). Must have strong computer skills (email, Word, Excel), Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC (DELTA) Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license Must provide a Police Information Check (PIC) document What We Are Offering: A starting rate of $30.18 is just the beginning. The benefit package is second to none and the defined benefit plan of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (O.M.E.R.S) is a pension system sought by many. Hours of Work: Hours in Facilities Operations will be seven and one-half (7.5) paid hours per day between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., plus a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid lunch - Monday to Friday; Monday through Thursday — 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Friday — 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., plus a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid lunch. Facilities Operations employees will rotate their shifts every two (2) weeks, except the Maintenance Lead Hand which will be a permanent day shift.
